What you can do

Scientific Math, Made Simpler

Use common scientific functions without installing a separate application.

📐

Trigonometry

Calculate sine, cosine, tangent, and inverse trigonometric functions. Switch between degrees and radians when needed.

√

Powers and Roots

Evaluate square roots, powers, and expressions such as 2^8 or sqrt(144) with parentheses and standard operation order.

㏒

Logarithms

Use log for base-10 logarithms and ln for natural logarithms, useful in algebra, science, and other coursework.

π

Math Constants

Insert pi and e for calculations involving circles, exponential growth, and many common mathematical formulas.

Quick start

How to Use the Scientific Calculator

Follow these steps to enter expressions and check your results.

STEP 01

Choose an angle mode

Select DEG for degrees or RAD for radians before calculating sine, cosine, tangent, or their inverse functions.

STEP 02

Enter your expression

Use the keypad or keyboard. Add parentheses to group parts of an expression, and use ^ to enter a power.

STEP 03

Calculate and review

Press = or Enter to see the result. Your recent expressions appear in the history panel so you can reuse them.

Compatibility and Accuracy

Works in a modern browser

Use a current version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge with JavaScript enabled. An internet connection is required to load this page, but the calculations themselves are processed locally by your browser.

Understand the result

This tool is intended for learning, everyday calculations, and checking mathematical work. Results use JavaScript's standard floating-point number precision, so very large values or calculations that require exact symbolic answers may be rounded. Check important results independently when precision is critical.

Use the correct angle setting

Trigonometric results depend on the selected angle unit. For example, sin(90) equals 1 in degree mode, while sin(pi/2) equals 1 in radian mode.

Common questions

Scientific Calculator FAQ

Answers to a few common questions about scientific calculations.

What is a scientific calculator used for?

A scientific calculator handles regular arithmetic along with functions such as trigonometry, logarithms, powers, and roots. It is useful for many school, science, and engineering calculations.

What is the difference between DEG and RAD?

They are two ways to measure angles. Degrees use 360 units for a full turn, while radians use 2π. Select the mode that matches your problem before using trigonometric functions.

Can I use my computer keyboard?

Yes. Type digits, parentheses, decimal points, and operators. Press Enter to calculate, Backspace to delete the last character, and Escape to clear the current expression. You can also type supported function names such as sqrt( and sin(.

Why do I get an error for some expressions?

Some operations do not have a real-number result. For example, log(0), log(-2), or sqrt(-4) are outside the real-number domain supported by this calculator. Check your expression and parentheses.

Are my calculations sent to a server?

The calculator's expression evaluation runs locally in your browser. This page does not send calculation inputs to a calculation server.
